About us

The Fattoria Uccelliera farm was born in the 1960s out of the passion for the countryside and for the nature of Antonio Bulleri and Maria Elena Poggianti. Today Ezio, the son, who takes care of the agronomic side of the vineyards of olive groves and about the forest, Tiziana, the wife, who looks after the commercial side, Matilde, the eldest daughter who follows the hospitality and Benedetta , still student, who puts her flair for communication to good use between one university exam and another.
Everyone plays a different role in the company and everyone participates in the strategic decisions. What characterises the hillside estate (the famous ‘Poggi’), in addition to the vineyards and olive groves – some of which are hundreds of years old – are the tall forests, the extensive Populus Alba plantations and the arable land, extensively cultivated and intended primarily to provide a natural but also rich environment for wildlife.
The winery as well as the farm are located in Crespina Lorenzana, Tuscany, in the beautiful Pisan hills. The vineyards are all characterised by hilly terrain with a very varied composition, predominantly tufaceous and siliceous, with clayey areas of limited extension, at an altitude of between 80 and 200 metres above sea level, with very cool valley floors and knolls interspersed with natural woods.
A fossil coral reef, dating back over 1 million years, was recently discovered in our countryside. At that time, the sea covered our present countryside, with a coastline much further back than it is today. The location of Fauglia was a protected shallow-water sea bay characterised offshore by meadows of plants of species exclusive to the Mediterranean Sea, by molluscs living buried in the sediment, and by seals. Further inshore was a coral reef populated by a rich fauna of oysters, urchins and eagle rays. The uniqueness of this site of palaeontological and geological interest lies in the perfect preservation of an important fossilised ecosystem.
